Equipment Needed
A standard dartboard and at least one set of darts (three darts per player).
Setting Up
- Decide on the Targets: Players agree on a sequence of targets (segments on the dartboard) that must be hit in order, including numbers, doubles, triples, or the bullseye.
- Determine the Order of Play: Players throw a single dart at the dartboard, aiming for the bullseye. The closest dart to the bullseye determines the order of play, starting with the closest.
Game Play
- Starting the Game: Each player or team takes turns throwing three darts per round, trying to hit the agreed-upon target for that round.
- Scoring: If you hit the target, you score points. Points can vary based on hitting the exact number, doubles, or triples. Missing the target with all three darts halves your overall score.
- Advancing Through Targets: After each round, play advances to the next target in the sequence.
- Special Rules: Players might agree on specific rules for certain targets, such as requiring a double or triple shot, or assigning more points to the bullseye.
Winning the Game
The game continues until all predetermined targets have been played. The player with the highest score at the end of the game wins.
Tips for Playing "Halve It"
- Practice Consistency: Consistency is key, as missing a target can significantly impact your score.
- Strategic Play: Consider aiming for easier parts of the target to avoid having your score halved.
- Adjust Targets for Skill Levels: To make the game fairer for players of varying skill levels, adjust the targets accordingly.
